From patch 5.2, the maximum rank for free companies has been increased form 8 to 30.
This article is the rank for free conpanies.

What Is the Rank for Free Company?

There are free company pints and experience in free company.

You save the free company points, the company credits( currency for free company) are saved.

When you saved a certain number of company credit, the company rank will increase.
Entitlements are awarded according to rank.

Rank	Entitlements
1	Unlocks the company chest.
2	Allows customization of a company crest.
3	Increases the number of company chest compartments to three.
4	Allows addition of the company crest to gear.
5	Allows access to company actions.
6	Allows for purchase of land in Mist, The Goblet, Lavender Beds or Shirogane.
7	Allows for further customization of the company crest.
8	Allows for access to level II company actions.
10	Increase the number of company chest compartments to four.
12	Increases the number of inactive company actions to 12.
15	Increase the number of company chest compartments to five.
18	Increases the maximum number of inactive company actions.
20	Increases the maximum number of inactive company actions.

The Way to Rank Up

You play various kinds of contents when you belong to a free company.

For example, complete a quest or F.A.T.E. and gathering or crafting something.
In other words, it will be increased naturally while playing FF XIV.
